Blue Yonder Crew
I’m Jen—the face behind Blue Yonder Coffee. My journey with coffee started at 18, dreaming of one day owning my own business. After detours in refugee aid work across Turkey, Uganda, and Seattle, and a stint in Big Tech, I was thrilled to launch my mobile espresso cart in 2023. Blue Yonder combines my love for coffee and the outdoors—serving trailhead brews, special events, and adventures across the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsula.
When I met Mat, he was already scheming about an overland business focused on guided trips and cooking. While working in tech full time after his time as a US Navy submarine officer, he formed Blue Yonder Adventures to start bringing those ideas to life. We realized all of our ideas revolve around being outside together more, with yummy food and drinks, and friends we love.
We put some of these dreams on the back burner in 2024 as Mat stepped in as COO of Campworks to bring their electrified teardrop camper to production. With his role now becoming more remote, and me quitting my tech job, we will take to the road full time starting February 2025 with our cat, Juniper!
Eventually we hope to land back in Kingston, WA, where we’re currently renting out the home we own. This website will capture all of our business ventures, including our podcast, link to my coffee business page, and future releases like guides or expeditions!
Off we go, into the wild blue yonder- climbing high, into the sun!
Jen shares the full story behind the Blue Yonder name over on her coffee site but in a nutshell: it comes from the Army Air Corps song! Jen’s grandpa was a WWII pilot who was shot down, rescued by submarine, and often sang the song. When Jen moved to Seattle, she’d often find herself humming the song on solo hikes. Eventually, she met Mat, a US Navy submarine veteran, and they decided to adventure together! Blue Yonder feels like a way to pay homage to a rich history of adventurers as well as uncanny serendipities that brought us to this moment, inspiring us to explore beyond the known horizon.
